Clinical use of SpermComet®

Introduction

SpermComet® is indicated for use in conjunction with conventional semen analysis in the assessment of men experiencing reproductive problems, including recurrent miscarriage; men for whom ART is being considered; or men who have had failed implantation or miscarriage following ART.

Infertile patients

Clinical use

  • Diagnosis of infertility in normozoospermic men
  • Identification of men at high risk of IVF failure

Patient management

  • Investigate and treat causes of high damage, for example:
    • Treat infections with antibiotics
    • Repair varicocele
    • Encourage lifestyle changes
  • Consider ICSI for high damage

Failed ART

Clinical use

  • Explanation of failure to achieve a pregnancy
  • Explanation of miscarriage
  • Selection of ICSI or TESTI-ICSI pathway

Patient management

  • Investigate and treat causes of high damage, for example:
    • Treat infections with antibiotics
    • Repair varicocele
    • Encourage lifestyle changes
  • Consider ICSI for IVF failure
  • Consider TESTI-ICSI for ICSI failure

Miscarriage patients

Clinical use

  • Diagnosis of male involvement in miscarriage.

Patient management

  • Investigate and treat causes of high damage, for example:
    • Treat infections with antibiotics
    • Repair varicocele
    • Encourage lifestyle changes
    • Consider ICSI with ejaculated or testicular sperm

Donor oocyte recipients

Clinical use

  • Ensure sperm is of adequate quality for IVF success

Patient management

  • Investigate and treat causes of high damage, for example:
    • Treat infections with antibiotics
    • Repair varicocele
    • Encourage lifestyle changes
    • Consider ICSI with ejaculated or testicular sperm
