There are many unanswered questions when it comes to male fertility research. Of couples seeking IVF treatment, the second most common reason is ‘unexplained’ fertility, accounting for 32% of cases1. There is clearly still significant research to be done and it is ever more important for fertility experts to come together and share the latest progress and research. Exact tests find out whether male sperm DNA could be the reason for infertility, miscarriage and even IVF and ICSI fertility treatments not being successful!

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Reproduction in a changing world’. The world is changing, thankfully more men are starting to talk and speak out about the problems they’re facing and what they and their partners are going through. The health of a man’s sperm will, without a doubt, impact whether or not he can get his partner pregnant and have a baby. High sperm DNA damage does increase the change of miscarriage as well as impacting the chances of fertility treatment success.
We’ll be at the show to discuss how our research is transforming the diagnosis and treatment of male infertility. According to HFEA, male infertility is the most common reason for IVF treatment1 and research has demonstrated that sperm DNA damage is associated with delayed natural conception and repeated miscarriage as well as the success of fertility treatments including IVF. Our latest study, conducted in collaboration with our friends, The Lister Fertility Clinic in London, demonstrated that the use of Examen’s COMET parameters (Exact tests) in sperm DNA analysis improves the diagnosis of unexplained infertility and the prediction of the outcome of both ICSI and IVF.
